15 years ago, Christoph Richter began his journey at MesserSoft with great curiosity, drive, and the joy of connecting theory with practice. Today, he is not only a valued product manager but also a team leader who takes responsibility, points out new paths, and inspires others with his positive attitude. In this interview, Christoph shares what continues to fascinate him about MesserSoft, which moments have shaped him, and what advice he would like to give to younger colleagues.
How did you come to MesserSoft 15 years ago?
I started with a dual study program – training as an IT specialist combined with a degree in software engineering. MesserSoft gave me the opportunity back then to connect theory and practice right from the start. The fact that it turned into 15 years shows that it was the right fit.
What has been the best part of working here – and why?
For me, it’s the opportunity to actively shape things. It’s not just about completing tasks, but about taking responsibility, bringing in new ideas, and supporting projects from the initial concept to implementation. These opportunities to shape things make the difference for me.
Which challenges do you appreciate the most?
Bridging the gap between complex technology and real customer value. Our software only has value if it works for customers in practice and improves their processes. That specific challenge is what motivates me.
Was there a particularly formative moment or event you like to remember or are proud of?
A defining moment for me was moving into product management and building my own team – that completely changed my work and opened new perspectives. Another memorable moment was during the COVID-19 pandemic: we developed a fully automated solution remotely, and over Teams we heard colleagues on-site enthusiastically shout, “It works!” That moment showed us what we can achieve together – even under difficult conditions.
What are your plans for the coming years?
I want to continue shaping MesserSoft strategically – whether through new technologies, in the field of automation, or in new markets. I’m also motivated to create structures that will allow us to grow sustainably as a team and as a company.
What advice would you like to give to younger colleagues?
Be bold and take responsibility. Here you have the chance to make a real impact – but you must seize it. Mistakes are part of the process; what matters is learning from them and moving forward.
