Where we started
As part of the company’s business structure, the Messer Cutting Systems Group’s international subsidiaries order and purchase software licences and their corresponding software protection dongles from MesserSoft. Afterwards, these software solutions are paired up with the cutting machines. The resulting all-in-one-solution is then sold to end users.
Prior to establishing a digital solution, this workflow used to rely heavily on print documents. This not only slowed down the order process significantly but also resulted in considerable challenges for the dongle management process: In some cases, it was difficult to keep track of precisely which product licences and which corresponding dongles individual customers were using at any given point in time.
In an effort to increase work and time efficiency, MesserSoft collaborated with Mindforce: Together, they digitized these previously analogue processes by using Salesforce to develop a custom database for managing software licences and customer data. In this database, all dongles and their corresponding software licences are directly linked with the customers who are using them. This approach allows for improved transparency: It is now possible to determine which – and how many – machines, dongles and software solutions each customer is using at any given point in time. Mindforce also digitized the software ordering process. The new, digital tool simplifies and replaces the previous, paper form-based workflow.
How we did it
The new system with its optimised customer database allows for a 360-degree view of all customers and dongles that are in circulation at any given point in time. Having access to this data improves the Messer Cutting Systems Group’s international subsidiaries’ ability to create offers based on each respective customer’s individual requirements. Therefore, the new system benefits not only MesserSoft but also its customers.
The result of this collaboration proved more than satisfactory to all involved parties: The new central database for managing software licences and customer data not only improved cross-functional cooperation with all international subsidiaries but also simplifies and standardises the pricing process. Collecting all relevant data in a single database therefore enables MesserSoft to provide an improved service experience to all customers.
